Rumored Blackberry London specs leak

RIM has managed to maintain a high usage rate in the business and enterprise market with their Blackberry handsets. But following a very high profile outage in October last year, the general consumer has jumped ship and migrated to another manufacturers. So it's going to take something special from the L series handsets to turn public opinion away from the competition.

In the latest leak, the specifications of one of the new handsets, the London, have been detailed. The following specs should be taken for what they are, rumor, as RIM are yet to comment on them.
  • TI OMAP4 processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 16GB Storage onboard + MicroSD slot
  • 4.2” 1280 x 768 display
  • 8MP rear camera, full HD recording capability. 2MP front facing camera
  • 4G + Wi-Fi, 4G Mobile hotspot
  • NFC, DLNA and Bluetooth 2.1, Face detect for phone calls
The most interesting titbit is listed as “Face detect for phone calls.” Face detection isn’t new though, with theSamsung Galaxy SIII being one of the current handsets to utilise the front facing camera for just that. Listed as a sensor, there is little know about this additional functionality, so it might be a nice feature that could help tempt users back to the platform.
Until RIM confirm (or deny) the specs listed above, we’re left to do nothing but speculate if these are legitimate or not. It’s going to be 2013 before we get to experience the Blackberry L series devices, which does leave room for improvement and tweaking of the final hardware if RIM deem it necessary.
